The passing away of Brig Yeshwant Desai is a big loss to the Corps and for those who served with him or knew him. He was an outstanding officer and a thorough gentleman. He had great poise, polished manners, was soft spoken, very mature.. He never got flustered or excited what ever the circumstances. He was also very friendly and approachable.
Brig Desai was a World War II veteran. I had the privilege and pleasure to serve with him when he was Chief Signal Officer 33 Corps in early 1970s. I hold him in very high esteem and feel very sad that he is no more with us.
Our deepest condolences to Mrs. Desai and family members. May God rest the
departed soul in peace.
Lt Gen Harbhajan Singh
Signal Officer-in-Chief and
Senior Colonel Commandant 1988-91
